Bisazza is participating in "ICONE Voices of Design Made in Italy", an exhibition that will be launched on 20 September 2023 in Doha at the M7 Museum. On show in Gallery 3 of the museum is Borsa (Bag), an artwork belonging to the Mobili Per Uomo (Furniture for Man) collection, designed by Alessandro Mendini for FONDAZIONE BISAZZA.
Alessandro Mendini was Bisazza’s art director for five years from 1994 to 1999. His Mobili Per Uomo work is composed of nine cabinets with over-sized sculptures, decorated with 24K yellow gold tiles cut and laid by hand, expressing the versatility and artistic value of mosaic.
The artworks Giacca (Jacket), Shoe (Scarpa), Glove (Guanto), and Testa (Head) belong to the first series, created in 1997. In the architect's view, the pieces symbolically represent what cannot be missing from a man’s wardrobe. Over time, the collection has been further expanded with Lampada (Lamp), Tazza (Cup), Stella (Star), Cappello (Hat), and finally Borsa (Bag).
Curated by Rossana Orlandi a leading international design expert, in collaboration with the Italian Embassy in Qatar and Qatar Museums, the exhibition is an interactive, emotional, and immersive journey to discover some of the most iconic pieces made by the most important Italian companies representative of the Made in Italy Design.
Conceived with the newest lighting, digital and sound technologies, the installation is signed by architect Lucio Micheletti of Studio Micheletti+Partners.
